A rare and unusual Victorian Lion of St. Mark's pocket watch fob pendant, in fine vintage condition, featuring a 15ct gold lion on top of a bloodstone intaglio seal with the letters O, E, and Y.

The Lion of Saint Mark is a winged lion that symbolically represents Saint Mark the Evangelist, patron of Venice. the lion is holding a book, with the inscription "Pax Tibi Marce Evangelista Meus", which means Peace unto you, Mark, my Evangelist. the lion sits on an oval carved intaglio made of bloodstone, which represents a courageous spirit.
